NO IDEA ABOUT FASHION, NEED YOUR HELP!

Sup guys and maybe girls

first of, I really am a fashion noob. I have no idea, no style, no whatevers, so I am looking out for help from you guys. I'm curious to know what you guys wear casually, like going to the mall, going to a bar, going to supermarket, whatever just casual. I think i need some help buying the right jeans, the fit is always weird. I don't like or buy those tight skinny jeans, but I think the jeans I buy are a little too wide and when i wear it its like a flag lol.

For work I wear two different styles: For the office job I wear a single colored dress shirt from Express, either white or black with a black tie, Calvin Klein black or grey dress pants, and Calvin Klein dress shoes.  I also wear a light brown kind of like a short trench coat or sometimes a black wool jacket from Kenneth Cole.

For my other job at a restaurant I wear the restaurants ugly as.s black polo shirt with light blue jeans and either my red converse or nike shox. I work in the kitchen so I don't really care about how I look.

I'm not too concerned about work but for casual times, I really am lol. Any help appreciated!

I think you are on the right track.  For casual wear, stick to basics like jeans, khakis, tees, sweaters, etc.  It really depends on where you live.  If you live in a 4-season city like I do, then you will need sweaters and other layering pieces.  Also, its different if you live in New York (like I do) or, say, Milwaukee.  You are expected to be dressier in NY even if you're "casual."

Here are a few rules:

1. Try on EVERYTHING!!!  This is the part guys hate!  You need to dedicate a few hours of your limited free time to really "shop."

2. Remember: buy quality, not quantity. Sometimes you can find a piece you really love at Old Navy, or Neiman Marcus.  Whatever, just make it fits right and you love it.

3. Don't necessarily follow trends.  Again, stick with basics like good jeans, quality tees, etc.

PM me if you have any other questions.

first of all, thank you for your response. secondly, I envy you for living in NY. I currently live in Germany and we have all four seasons. I miss LA :/

I live in a small city, nothing compared to NY but I know what you mean with "you are expected to be dressier in NY". Some people here walk around like homeless people, some dress pretty good, and then some dress extremely nice and look very classy. I think there are only two stages in NY, where either one dresses very nice or not nice, so no middle stage. That's what I thought when I went to NY.

But yeah, tomorrow I have no work so I am going for a long shopping spree thanks again for you tips, I'll post some pictures if I find new stuff!
