Gross! You guys have better taste than that (besides the Hermès and Mugler). Most designer stuff is no good, check out Perfumes: The Guide by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez; while not always spot on, they pose an intellectual and subjective guide with simple star ratings.

Some to look for: L'Artisan Parfumeur - Timbuktu, Dior Homme, Creed - Green Irish Tweed, Amouage XXV, Chanel Pour Monsieur (not the concentrée).

If you want a great Italian fragrance that is unique from all the rest, try the Bois 1920 line. If looking for citrus, in particular Bois Extreme is fantastic.

Fine Living Fragrances - Unique & Elegant Fragrances of the World Featuring the best in Italian Fragrances from Bois 1920, Laura Tonatto, & La Perla.
